Aims Games Two Weeks away!

It is only two weeks till the 16th Aims Game held in Tauranga where we have 28 Year 7/8 students competing in 11 sports (with a support crew of 2 x Year 9 Hockey umpires and 15 Adult managers). We had a great Quiz Night last night and raised over $3000 for the team towards their Van/car rental bill ($3700 rental and approx. $1300 petrol!). Thanks to those who supported us!

The Aims Games are held every year in Tauranga for Year 7 and 8 students. This year there are over 11,500 students competing from 368 schools from around New Zealand and the Pacific in 23 sports!

If you want to know about the team, please have a look at this Google Slide Show:

Super Swimmer:

Noah Davis (Year 9) competed in the South Island Swimming Championships last weekend and produced some outstanding results with a number of PBs and a Bronze Medal performance in the 100m Breaststroke. Canterbury Reps.

This week we have four new Canterbury reps from our student body.

Jesse Lubbers (Canterbury A)and Nathan Alcock (Canterbury B) have been named in the Canterbury U13 Hockey teams and Sam Tyler was named in the Development team also. All the best guys for your tournaments in Palmerston North and Rotorua. Do the Red and Blacks proud! All three boys are part of our Aims Games team competing in two weeks.

Football and Hockey Success

We are very thankful to God for the talents he has blessed our Year 7 and 8 Football and Hockey players.

The Football team are Canterbury Champions (runners up last year) by winning all their eight games at Hagley Park yesterday. Topping their pool, they played and beat last year’s champions, St. Andrews College, 3-0 in their semi-final. They then went on to beat neighbours St. Martins 3-0 in the final. Well done guys and Mr Gardner.

The Hockey team went into the tournament as 2018 Champions and they won all seven of their pool games to advance to the semi-finals. A tight game saw them lose 3-1 to a strong Mt. Pleasant team but they then were too strong in their 3rd/4th play-off to beat West Melton 3-1. It was a great team effort. Well done to Mt Pleasant and Cathedral Grammar who tied for first. A big thanks to Paul Davis for helping with the team.

In two week’s time most of these teams will compete at the Aims Games in Tauranga – a boys’ Futsal Team and  boys’ and girls’ 6 a side Hockey teams.
