Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Cross Country

Some great running from our biggest ever Cross Country team at the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Cross Country Champs yesterday at QEII. Sam Meecham had a great race to place 5th in the U16 Grade and was just behind third. In the same race Sebastian Duff improved on his placing at the Road Race. Noah Davis and Zachary Landers had a “smashing finish” in the Year 9 Boys to take 22nd= in a large field (they took out a cone connector on the finish line).

Secondary Schools Road Race

We had eight runners in the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Road Race on Thursday – our biggest entry ever! Well done to our runners for entering and having a go. Sam Meecham took a great 5th in the U16 Boys and our Year 9 Boys did extremely well with all three in the top 21 out of a field of 51. For full results, see:

First Game of Hockey!!!

A great effort from our Year 3 Girls who played their first ever game of Hockey yesterday! Future Black Sticks in the making and it all started here! Mrs Phanpho took the team and she said they learnt a lot and improved! They went down 10-0 after being 7-0 down at half time. They play in the Year 3-4 Mini Sticks Division for the Southern United Club. Mrs Phanpho said they learnt about subbing, running and defending. Well done girls!

Girl Power at Rugby Fun Day

Our Hillview Girls were undefeated at the Rugby Fun Day at Burnside Park today – scoring more than 20 tries in their three games and conceding only three.

Both the Year 4 and Year 6 Boys were undefeated also and the Year 5 Boys had some great play also in their one draw and two loss record.

A big thanks to the Cantabrians Rugby Club and Primary Sports Canterbury for putting on the event. We were blessed to have great supporters and also Year 9s Eva and Marita helping with the Girls’ team.
