Hi all

Due to the impending bad weather forecast for Thursday and Friday, we are moving the school cross country to Wednesday 10 April. The weather looks much warmer and is also fine. Please accept our apologies for this late change but it seems wise to do so.

The race start times remain the same for the Year 0-4s but are slightly changed for the Year 5-10s. For a full notice, please click here: HCS XC Notice 2019

More Super Swimmers

Today we had two representatives at the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Swimming Championships held at Jellie Park.

Noah Davis has won the 12-13 Boys’ 50m Breaststroke – our first ever winner at a Canterbury Secondary School level! He also did well to place 7th overall in the Open (up to Year 13!) 200m Individual Medley.

Eva Bader set a PB in the 50m Freestyle for 12-13 year old girls to place a creditable 7th.

We thank God for their gifts and talents and dedication to training. Well done to both students for competing and a big thanks to Paul Davis and Jo Bader for taking them along.

Super Swimmers

We had some sensational swimming results today from our team of 16 swimmers who swam at the Primary Sports Canterbury Swimming Championships at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre in Rolleston.

We had three firsts, a 2nd and a 3rd as well as our three relay teams all making the finals and placing 5th, 5th and 7th out of the 142 schools that qualified today – many schools had no swimmers qualify at all.

Elliot Graves was the star of the whole swim meet with by taking two wins in the Year 8 Boys (you can only enter in two events!) and can lay claim to be the fastest swimmer in Canterbury for Year 8s and below and his winning times beat the winners of the Intermediate races on Tuesday!!! Elliot won both the 50m Freestyle and dead- heated for 1st in the 50m Breaststroke final.

Yana Shakhnovich can claim to being the fastest Breaststroker in Canterbury for Year 5 Girls and Sam Cook is the 2nd fastest Year 5 Boy Breaststroke swimmer in Canterbury. Tessa Davis was just pipped for 2nd in the 50m Breaststroke final for Year 7 Girls.

As well as some excellent relay results we had some other individuals performing well with PJ Plamao making the Year 8 Boys’ final in the 50m Backstroke. Mia Englefield, Joshua Buckley and Danil Pulin all were in the top 20 in their events.

A big thanks to Paul Davis, Jane Jones and Mr Frost for transport help.
