Y5-8 Athletics Finals Tuesday 6 November

Hi all

Well done to all children who have qualified for the Hillview Chrisian School Year 5-8 Athletics Finals that will be held on Tuesday evening – 6 November at the Senior Campus Field.
The list of finalists is here: FINALISTS
Timetable: Attached is the timetable. See: HCS Athletics Finals Programme 6.11.18
Note that field events start at 5.00pm, Sprints at 6.15pm and Distance Finals from 7.00pm. We run a finals evening so other family members can watch and also so it is a special occasion for the finalists
Food and Drink: There will be a sausage sizzle ($2) raising money for the Aims Games in Tauranga.  There will also be a Coffee Car  there – please support it as we want to keep providing this service – their menu is attached. See: Coffe Menu
The South Zone Athletic Sports are on Monday 12 November (see the timetable attached here South Zone Athletics Programme 2018 ) at Hansen Park. Usually the top three from Tuesday’s finals (NO Year 5 Shot or Discus though) are selected in the team. Sometimes we only take one or two depending on the standard. Sometimes we take the 4th of 5th athlete – as children can only compete in three events at the Zones – one of which may be a relay.
Wednesday Training: The top three Distance runners (1000m and 1200m runners) and the relay teams (the first 4 in the 50m finals for Year 5 and 6 and the first 4 in the 100m finals for Year 7 and 8) will go to Hansen Park on Wednesday 7 November for training – it will be light but a chance to see a 400m track.
Canterbury Champs: If children win their relay or get in the first two at the South Zones, they get to compete at te Canterbury event at Nga Puna Wai Track (Wigram) on Wednesday 5 December.
Helpers Needed: The teachers would love helpers at the field events – either parents or older siblings. I will also need helpers with timing and placings at the track events. Please let us know if you can assist.
Please email me if you have any questions. Really looking forward to your child competing on Tuesday evening and showing the gift and talents God has given them.
Cheers
Paul;)
