Y5-8 South Zone Winter Sports Tournament Result – 5 wins!

Well done to our Year 5-8 A teams at the South Zone Winter Tournament at South Hagley Park. We had five teams who won their sports today – out of eight sports in total – a super effort:

Year 7/8: Rugby, Hockey and Football were winners – all teams undefeated!

Year 5/6: Rugby and Hockey were winners – both undefeated also!

Thanks to the parents who helped out with teams and also to the parents who came along to support us!

All of theses teams have qualified for the Primary Sports Canterbury Winter Tournament on Thursday 23 August, 11am-3.00pm at South Hagley Park.

Willow 3rd in Climbing and Y5-8 South Zone Tournament

Well done to Willow Cook who took 3rd place in the latest round on the Climbing Nationals series in Auckland over the weekend. Great work from her sister, Isla, who took 7th in her grade too!

Aims Games Hockey Team Training

Our Aims Games Hockey team had a great training session today at the Sydenham Turf. The team will be playing against 55 other teams at the Aims Games Hockey tournament in two months time in Tauranga. Our training today was led by Callum McGregor, the Southern United Year 7/8 Div. 1 Coach and assistant Hatch Cup Coach and Premier Grade Hockey player. Mr Norton, Mrs Phanpho and Mr Fairhall also had input.

We finished up with a game where the Year 7/8 team snatched a last second goal victory to beat the Aims Allstars Supporters Team 3-2 – we will have revenge next Wednesday 2.00-3.30pm!

South Island Success

On the first weekend of the holidays we had some success in two South Island events.

Cycling: In Timaru, Elliott Perrett had a successful time on the roads – claiming two Bronze medals in the South Island Schools Cycling Road Championships. On the Saturday he was third fastest in the time trial and followed this up with a third in the scratch road race the next day.

Cross Country: Also on Saturday, Silas Jones won the Grade 10 Boys South Island Cross Country Championships and Sam Meecham took the Silver in the Grade 14 race. Matthew Fairhall and Zachary Landers were 4th in their age groups with Rennah Meecham and Max Blockley taking 7th in their age groups.

Year 0-4 XC Challenge 2018 Results

We had a wonderful Year 0-4 Cross Country Challenge today with 392 runners from 14 different schools:

Aidanfield Christian School, Beckenham School, Christchurch Adventist School, Emmanuel Christian School, Hillview Christian School, Merrin School, Middleton Grange School, Opawa School, Rangiora New Life School, Rolleston Christian School, Somerfield Te Kura Wairepo, St. Martins School, St. Peter’s School, Thorrington School

We had some super running from all students with some sensational Hillview  results with four team wins out of eight races (Year 0/1 Girls, Year 2 Girls, Year 4 Boys and Year 4 Girls) and the following students making the podium:

1st: Louis Dowall (Y4 Boys) and Rennah Meecham (Y4 Girls)

2nd: Joel Barlow (Y0/1 Boys)

3rd: Vadim Pulin (Y2 Boys), Honour Timo (Y2 Girls), Israel Davis (Y4 Boys)
