Swift Swimmers at Canterbury Champs

Our Year 5-8 swimming team did very well at the Primary Sports Canterbury Swimming Champs at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre today.

Top 3:  We had four top 3 places achieved today which is an outstanding result…..

Elliott Graves took 2nd in both the 50m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke for Year 7 Boys. Noah Davis was 2nd in the Year 8 Boys’ 50m Backstroke and 3rd in 50m Breaststroke. These are sensational results.

Other top ten finishes were achieved by:

The Year 8 Mixed Relay team (Noah Davis, Eva Bader, Max Blockley and Kavanah Lene) were a superb 4th. Bonnie Graves did very well to place 5th in the Year 5 Girls 50m Breaststroke and Tessa Davis was 5th in the Year 6 Girls’ 50m Breaststroke and 8th in the 50m Backstroke. The Year 7 Mixed Relay team (Elliott Graves, PJ Palamo, Antonia Tinga and Ava Barker) were 7th, PJ Palamo was 9th in the Year 7 Boys’ 50m Backstroke and Eva Bader swam brilliantly to get 10th in the Open Girls’ 50m Butterfly.

It was a great effort from all of our swimmers today against the best in Canterbury. A big thanks to our vocal supporters and parents who helped transport students.

Winnie tops NZ at IPS

Winnie Palamo won the Grade 13 event at the Inter-Provincial Athletics Champs in Inglewood (Taranaki) over Easter Weekend – makeing her no. 1 in New Zealand for Athletics for 13 year olds!. She also led Canterbury to the teams’ title – being the Canterbury Captain. In a close competition all weekend, Canterbury edged out Auckland and Counties Manukau with Wellington in 4th ahead of all the other regions in NZ. Each region send their best 44 athletes with each athlete competing in four events to score points for their province. Well done Winnie, God has blessed you with a great talent, use it for his glory.
