Well done to ALL of our cyclists today who showed EXCELLENCE by trying their best in warm and sometimes windy conditions. Well done and a big thanks for entering and to all the parents and family members who came along to support.

We had 8 records broken and some of the fastest ever racing provided by Tim Wilson, Rory Jones and Mrs McLister!

Cycle Champs on Wednesday

We are very excited about our Cycle Champs on Wednesday.

Attached is the amended timetable – see here for our 80 entrants and their start times: 2016-cycle-champs-start-times. Please be at the start at least 5 mins. before your race.
Year 3/4s – unless you have made arrangements, Mr Norton will walk them over at 8.55am – meet outside the Library.
HUGE THANKS to Grant Wengler and  CYCLE SURGERY (by New World) who have sponsored our races with $510 worth of vouchers – a $10 voucher for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each grade – each place-getter will also get a certificate on the podium! Every competitor gets two little jelly-baby lollies after their race also.
See you tomorrow – looks like it will be mainly fine and warm but possibly a little windy. A reminder it is about doing your best and having a go. Some of you will also be out to set a PB from last year and also try to get on the podium and set a new record!

Sports News – Cricket, Swimming and Cycling

Cricket: Well done to our Red Year 5/6 Cricket team who placed 2nd in the Superstar Cricket finals today at Hagley Park. After pool play, they had a tough semi-final, winning by 1 run, 70-69 to make into our second final in two years. They lost the final to Paparoa Street but can be very proud of their efforts – making us the #2 Cricket Primary school in Canterbury!

Swimming: The Year 3/4s had the second ever Swimming Carnival at school today. The warm water made up for cool conditions outside, All children competed in three races then we had the House Relay. Rutherford were convincing winners, with Snell just holding out Sheppard by a finger and Hillary in 4th.

Cycling: We have the School Cycling Champs next Wednesday, 14 December and have 77 entries so far – more than 30 more than last year – entries close tonight (Friday).
