Y7/8 Indoor Results and Sausage Sizzle tomorrow

Y7/8 Indoor Results:

Please find below the official results from the Year 7/8 Indoor Tournament last week and here is a short report from Mr Harrison on the great results from the young basketball teams:

Our two teams went really well. The boys came top in their section and lost their semi to Kaiapoi North by 2 points after leading most of the game. Kaiapoi North went on to win the final. In the play-off for 3rd and 4th they lost to Halswell by one. With all the boys but Oliver G back next year things look very promising.
The girls had six wins and three losses and I think they were 4th. A win in their second last game which was lost 12-10  would have had them in second place.

Y9/10s Improve at Cross Country Champs

The Year 9/10 boys all improved their places at the Canterbury Secondary Schools Cross today compared to their places at the Canterbury Secondary Schools Road Race two weeks ago. In a slightly larger field, Josiah Barnes, was the biggest improver – improving 15 places on his 71st at the Road Race. Luke Mitchell (pictured at our school champs below) improved 11 places to be the 6th runner home and 4th Year 9, to gain selection in the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Cross Country Relay team that will compete in Rotorua in the New Zealand Secondary School Cross Country Champs on June 18 and 19.

The conditions were wet, cold and slippery but all of the boys did well to improve their places.

Hillview – Canterbury Year 7/8 Volleyball Champions

Our Year 7/8 Volleyball team are Canterbury Champions! Read Mrs Oosterbaan’s exciting report below:

We had a great day on Wednesday! We entered two all girls teams into the tournament.
The Year 8 girls team started off with a loss, but then won every game after that. They played Middleton A in the semi final and won by 1 point in the last set. Such an intense game! We then played Prebbleton A in the final. Prebbleton won the first set, and we won the next two to win the game. The girls were ecstatic!
The mixed girls team won two or three games during the day, coming 13th out of 15 teams.
The volleyball tournament was extremely well organised. They made it compulsory that each team have a minimum of two hits on their side before the ball can go over the net. This made for some fantastic rallies!
