Summer is here, almost, and we have a number of summer sports teams competing under the Hillview banner out of school. Mr Harrison has a number for Cricket teams playing for the Sydenham Club on Saturdays and we have three school teams in the Year 5/6 Action Cricket Trophy on Fridays in school time. Again we have a number of teams in the Year 3/4 Mini-Ball on Wednesdays at Pioneer and we also have 12 touch teams playing in the SMART Touch Module at Waltham Park on Thursdays (Year 0-8).
Well done to all children who competed today in the 9yrs and up Athletic qualifying. There were some super performances and the final House Relay was very exciting with Hillary just edging Snell on the line of the last if 18 laps with Rutherford third and Sheppard in fourth.
Well done to Sam Meecham who won two Silver Medals for Canterbury at the Inter-Regional Cross Country at Hanmer Springs at the end of last term. Sam won an Individual Silver in a massive sprint finish and also led the Canterbury A team to a Silver in the Teams’ race behind Wellington A. Luke Mitchell was a super seventh in the Year 7 Boys’ 3600m which helped the Canterbury B team to a Bronze in the Teams’ race. Tom Harrison, Willow Cook and Matthew Fairhall all put in huge efforts in the Year 5 races also.
