South Zone Results and Ephraim is our 5th Primary Sports Canterbury Rep. this season!

Today the Year 5-8 South Zone Winter Tournament was held at Hagley Park. We had 18 teams involved against our local schools. A big congratulations to the Year 7/8 A and B Netball teams that were 1st and 2nd in the A Grade and qualified for the Primary Sports Canterbury Winter Tournament on Thursday 21 August. Joining them are the Year 7/8 A Football team who won the A grade and were unbeaten. The C team also won the B Grade. In the Year 5/6s the Hillview A Rugby team were second, the A Hockey team 3rd and the A Football team 4th.

Congratulations to Year 7 Ephraim Stocks who has made the Primary Sports Canterbury U48kg Rugby Rep. Team Squad – on his birthday! Ephraim is our 5th Primary Sports Canterbury Rep. for 2014 joining Fia Lai-Kong (Netball), and Sam Meecham, Tom Harrison and Luke Mitchell (Cross Country). Well done Ephraim!

Hayley 4th in South Island swimming, Basketballers 3rd and Luke in Canterbury team

South Island Secondary Schools’ Swimming

Hayley Buckley smashed her PB for the 200m backstroke in the weekend at the South Island Secondary Schools’ Swimming Champs at Moana Pool in Dunedin and took 4th place in the Under 14 girls. Hayley swam in another six events and swam two more personal bests as well. Year 5/6 Boys Basketball team come 3rd

The Year 5/6 Boys’ Basketball team took 3rd place in the Primary Sports Canterbury Indoor Tournament last Tuesday at Pioneer Stadium. They came first in their pool and then won their next play-off before losing to eventual winners, Cotswold which meant they had to play off for 3rd and 4th – a game they easily won 24-2 over Somerfield. Luke Mitchell into Canterbury Cross Country Team again

Luke Mitchell ran an excellent race last Wednesday at Roto Kohatu Reserve to qualify for the Primary Sports Canterbury Cross Country team to race in the Inter-Regional Cross Country in Hanmer in September. He came 4th place out of 40 Year 7 Primary and Intermediate boys. Michael Hermens ran very well to be only 10 seconds outside qualifying in coming 16th place.
