Two Canterbury Cross Country Reps. today at Halswell

Well done our ten runners today in the Primary Sports Canterbury Cross Country at Halswell Quarry. On a very slippery and muddy course our team did very well. Highlight of the day was the Year 5 Boys’ race where Sam Meecham and Tom Harrison

were fighting it out at the front of the 130 strong field. In a frantic finish Sam was officially given 3rd place by the electronic timing system and Tom 5th with less than a second separating them. Both boys easily qualified for the Primary Sports Canterbury Cross Country team (they had to be in the first ten) which will compete against runners from around the country in Hanmer on 25 September.

Luke Mitchell joined Sam on the podium by taking 3rd place in the Year 7 Boys’ race over a very slippery 3km with Michael Hermens not far behind in about 12th or 13th with both of them qualifying for the race against the Intermediates on Wednesday 2 July.

No other official results are through yet but all of our team gave of their best.
