PROVISIONAL Swimming Sports Results 2014

We had a wonderful swimming sports today and the children all put in a huge effort whether they were first or last, as we know one of our school values is EXCELLENCE, where we always give of our best.

A stunning 13 records were broken (we only keep records for the 50m races and open 25m butterfly) with three records broken by OLIVER GRAVES and HAYLEY BUCKLEY and two records broken by LIAM HICKEY and EVA STARK.

There are a few gaps is our results and please let us know of any mistakes (email: p.norton@hillview.school.nz). The House points totals are still to come but it looks like Rutherford did enough in the relays to hold out Sheppard for top spot.

Orienteering Opportunities

February/March 2014 Orienteering Opportunities on Wednesdays

Afterwork ‘SPRINT CUP’ Series

Feb/March 2014. School teams competition
The 5-event series provides an opportunity for
students and adults to give Orienteering a go in a
fun and very social setting. We will be using an
electronic timing system that will give
participants their overall race time plus their
times between each checkpoint or ‘control’ on
their course so they can compare split times with
other competitors on their course called sport
ident. What does the series involve? Five
‘sprint’-style (short but fast) events held over
five weeks. A ‘sprint’ Orienteering event does
not actually involve sprinting (each course is
between 1.5 and 3km long), but is much shorter
than ‘classic’ Orienteering. It is ALL about quick
thinking in small areas.
Coaching available before the start! ALL WELCOME: COME AND HAVE A GO!!
When: Wed evenings starting February 19th: Starts between 6-7pm. Registration from 5.30pm.
Where: Venues are:
• Cashmere High School (19th Feb), meet car park near Rose St entrance
• Opawa (26th Feb), meet at Steiner school entrance off Ombersley Tce
• Victoria Park (5th March), meet main car park just before the old visitor centre
• St.Andrews College and Heaton (12th March), meet Elmwood tennis club car park
• Ferrymead (19th March). Meet at car park by main public entrance to Ferrymead
Cost per race: : $10 adult, $5 under 20, plus $2 for sport ident chip hire.

you don’t have a sport ident chip, one will be allocated to you. Pick it up at the caravan. You can
just turn up and enter on the day, but on line will speed up registration
