We are very thankful to God that we had a brief sunny spot today to race our Cycle Champs finals. It was looking like we would have to cancel them but we managed to get through – although the Year 3-10 prize-giving was a little wet! Well done to all the children who competed today and we had a few more school records and some close finishes too! Thanks to all the parents and families that came to support and also to the Year 4s who helped with timing etc.
The Red Caps have come 3rd in the Year 6 and under Action Cricket competition aftrer beating Cotswold 29-17 in the play-off for third/fourth. In pool play they beat St. Albans by 30 runs and eventual winner of the tournament, Waimairi, 30-17 but suffered a close 26-21 loss to Cashmere. Three teams topped their pool but Waimairi went ahead to the grand final on run rate and then beat Fendalton by 50 runs. Well done to our 7 x Year 4s and 3 x Year 6s and Mr Harrison!

Year 6 and under Action Cricket Finals – Wednesday 11 December
Well done to the Hillview Red Caps who have made the Year 6 and under Action Cricket Finals to be held on Wednesday at Hagley Park. This means they are in the top 8 schools in Canterbury – and at least 7 of the team are Year 4s!
Last Friday the Hillview Black Caps had a 41 run win over Waltham School and the Hillview White Caps were beaten by Hoon Hay.
The 2013 Cycle champs got underway on Thursday in hot and windy conditions and they continue on next week. Despite the unfavourable conditions, three school records were broken on Thursday over the 1.1km course.

Well done to our Athletics team in Ashburton today who took on 186 schools (and some schools didn’t even get qualifiers!) and did extremely well! No official results are out yet but highlights for us were:
– our 10 years boys winning the 4x50m relay final!
– Winnie Palamo winning the 9 girls 80m sprint final!
– the 9 years girls and the 13 years girls placing 2nd in their relay finals!
-Luke Mitchell taking a fantastic 2nd place in the 11 years boys 1200m final
There were many other brilliant performances and we thank God for lovely weather and Fia L-K recovering after having to spend some time in Ashburton hospital . Thanks to all our wonderful parent supporters too! More results to come later.
