Hillview Red Rockets and Hillview Blue Touch Champions

Well done to the Year 0-2 Hillview Red Rockets Touch Team that won the SMART touch finals last night at Hansen Park. They had only lost one game going into their final game last night, and it was against their opposition for their last game, the All Stars from St. Martins.

In a very closely fought game they came out on top 3 tries to 2 with the try scorers being Joel Weir (2) and Levi Tamiti. A great team effort saw them through – well done to Ethan Wong, Willow and Isla Cook, Eden Gillett, Grace Norton and Joel and Levi. Marita Stocks and Grace Tipple were also  members of the team but couldn’t make it last night.

The Hillview Blue Year 7/8 Team ended up first equal in their competition. They went through the season unbeaten and then had a draw and a loss in the finals night to end up joint winners with the Untouchables Team from Beckenham. Well done guys!

Hillview Surf Lifesavers

A report from Chris Buckley….

On the 9th of December, Hayley and Leah both competed in the first Junior Carnival of the season at Taylors Mistake. We are very proud of our New Brighton team, and any other team who was there to take on the challenge. Hayley managed to finish 5th in her Surf Race (400m run – ocean swim – run), 4th in her Diamond Race (Surf Race immediately followed by a run up the beach to grab their rescue boards to complete the course again!, before a run along the beach) 5th in her Beach sprints and 4th in Mixed beach relays. Leah competed in the Surf Race and the Rescue Board Race for the very first time EVER!!! even beating a few of the other competitors to the line. Leah was even riding a 10’6″ fiberglass race board for the very first time too!! Leah had to retire for the day after picking up a bit of a knee injury getting knocked around on the rescue board, so was unable to compete in the beach events. Fantastic work!!
